5 Days Rwanda Primates

Day 1 Kigali Airport - Nyungwe NP

On arrival at Kigali Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative. If it is still early, you will transfer to your hotel in Kigali to check in and relax after which you will head out for a brief tour of Kigali City. If time is limited, upon arrival you will immediately go for the Kigali City tour. You will have your lunch during the city tour.

After the city tour, your guide will drive you to Nyungwe National Park. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and spend the rest of the evening at your lodge.

Day 2 Nyungwe NP

After an early breakfast, head out for a thrilling hike in search of chimpanzees. The chimpanzee population in Rwanda consists of approximately 400-500 individuals, confined to the Nyungwe National Park, including a small community in the Cyamudongo Forest. Prepare to hear these excitable primates before you see them, as their pant-hoots travel through the deep forest. During your hike, you may also spot migratory birdlife including the Ross’ turaco, grey-cheeked hornbill, red-breasted sparrow, hawk and regal sunbird. Later proceed with tea plantation experiences around the park. After these experiences, transfer to the shore of Lake Kivu.

Day 3 Nyungwe - Volcanoes NP

After breakfast, you will start your morning boat cruise exploring different islands located on the lake. On this day, you will drive to Volcanoes National Park. On your way have a stopover and enjoy the Rwanda coffee experiences at Kopakiki Cooperative. On arrival, spend the rest of the day relaxing at your lodge.

Day 4 Volcanoes NP

On this special day, you will have the rare opportunity to observe the famous golden monkeys. You will depart for golden monkeys trekking to observe the famous Rwandan monkeys in the Volcanoes National Park. Spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for lunch. Upon arrival at the lodge for lunch, enjoy lunch at the hotel or in a local restaurant in Musanze city with an afternoon cultural experience at the Gorilla Guardians formery Ibyiwacu Cultural Village. Head back to your lodge.

Day 5 Volcanoes - Kigali

This is the last day of your safari.

Enjoy a relaxed morning with your breakfast. After, check out of your lodge and your guide will drive you to Kigali to board your flight back home. You will have your lunch enroute.
